Dec 05 Christmas Blog: Audiobook Review: Red Queen – Victoria Aveyard

Goodreads Blurb: This is a world divided by blood—red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance—Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

Narrator: Amanda Dolan 5.5/5 Stars! Ms. Dolan’s voices are extremely pleasing to listen to though a couple of times I had trouble with the male voices though it is because of a slight hearing disability. I want to hear more from this narrator and can’t wait til the next novel.  It’s because of the narrators like her that make listening to audiobooks so much fun!

Final Notes Red Queen 4.99/5 From the moment I started this audiobook I understood Mare and believed in her. Even though she’s the main character in the series, her stubbornness, or determination as I call it, makes her someone you want to believe will win in the end. When her power is found out, in front of Cal, who helped her get the job, and other Royals.  she then becomes Maven, Cal’s younger brother’s fiancee.  Now, she is treated better than she’s ever lived, even though she’s in a secret resistance. when she tries to do a coup, her heart is broken, and then imprisoned. Yet that is not the end of her story.  With her red blood with special powers, it’s red versus silver who will win, and will she have a happily ever after? I wish I could read the next novel now, but I have too many to read before this!

Until next time AGirlandHerTablet is away from the tablet!
